Our Olfi vs GoPro Comparison Table

Our gopro vs olfi comparison table.

Our comparison table above goes over some of the key features of the latest GoPro camera and the Olfi One Five. As you can see, on paper at least, each camera has advantages over the other in a number of areas but things such as build quality, ease of use, and robustness usually can’t be shown on a simple data-based comparison table.

The Winner

Well, in all honesty, we feel that both of these action cameras are winners in their own right and deserve respect in their niches. If you are more focused on producing the best quality video or photographs possible of your action sport then the GoPro (Click here to check for product prices and availability) is without a doubt the camera of choice for you.

It cuts no corners and offers you the very best quality possible but on the flip side, you really are paying for it. The GoPro is almost twice the price of the Olfi One Five but in our opinion, it does not provide twice the quality. The GoPro brand is also well established and has plenty of third-party brands working with and producing accessories for the cameras so you can pick up any accessory you could ever need for your sport.

If you are on a budget or an entry level action sports enthusiast then the Olfi One Five (Click here to check for product prices and availability) should be able to meet all or the vast majority of your needs without breaking the bank. Whereas the GoPro beats it in every single aspect in our opinion, we do not feel that the GoPro provides double the quality in exchange for being double the price of the Olfi One Five.

If you are on a budget then we would recommend that you check out the GoPro Hero Seven White (Click here to check for product prices and availability) shown in the image to the left. It retails at a very similar price as the Olfi One Five while offering you the same high build quality and performance of GoPro products at a much lower price tag as the GoPro Black range.

Our overviews of both of the cameras are below that go into more detail for each camera if you would prefer to know more before making your choice.

Our GoPro Hero Seven Black Overview!

First up on our GoPro vs Olfi comparison is the GoPro overview. At the time of writing, the GoPro Hero Seven Black (Click here to check for product prices and availability) is the top of the range GoPro camera currently available and in our opinion, it has really knocked the ball out of the park when it comes to action cameras. Since its release onto the market, it has proven a very popular camera with the action sports community and has an excellent reputation.

One of the largest upgrades in the seventh iteration of the GoPro is its hyper smooth feature. Although GoPro claims that their hyper smooth feature is just as smooth as using a gimbal with your camera it does leave a little to be desired. That said, using the hyper smooth feature does massively improve the quality of your footage as shown in the sample video below and easily beats the image stabilization capabilities of the other action cameras currently available on the market right now.

The Hero Seven Black would not be worthy of the GoPro name if it was not extremely rugged and resilient to bumps and knocks. The body of the camera has been improved over the previous versions of the GoPro to help increase the amount of punishment that it is able to take during use and really sets it aside from the pack.

Although the GoPro Hero Seven Black does not offer any improvement on its waterproofing performance, we still feel that being able to use it to a depth of thirty-three feet is cover the majority of needs for our readers.

The GoPro also has an excellent voice control system that really is second to none. This allows you to control your action camera totally hands-free to allow you to easily focus on your sport of choice without needing to worry about the performance of your camera. Although there are a large number of voice commands that it will respond to, the most used ones are “GoPro, start recording’, and “GoPro, take a photo”.

The GoPro Hero Seven Black boasts a very clear and sharp 12 Megapixel photograph resolution that can often look much better than you would expect. In addition to this, it also boasts the ability to record video in 4K at a rate of sixty frames per second offering you the best possible action sports video recording on the market right now.

The audio of the GoPro hero seven black is outstanding in all honest. They have improved its ability to avoid picking up the sound of the wind allowing you to use your GoPro for vlogging in windy conditions while also being able to use it to pick up the sounds of your sport of choice.

Our Olfi One Five Overview

Next up on our Olfi vs GoPro, we will be covering the Olfi One Five (Click here to check for product prices and availability). Although the Olfi brand is much newer and less established than the GoPro brand it is managing to quickly build its own unique user base due to filling the niche as a budget-friendly GoPro. This coupled with its decent functionality, especially for its price has helped to earn it a good reputation and a constantly growing user base.

Although the GoPro camera does include a small number of accessories, the Olfi One Five really does go above and beyond and includes a large number of additional accessories as shown in the image above while maintaining its low price point. The things included with your purchase of an Olfi One Five are:-

  • Lithium-Ion Battery
  • 30m Waterproof Case
  • Frame Housing
  • Short 90 Degree Connector
  • Long Ninety Degree Connector
  • J Clip
  • Short Clip
  • Short Screws
  • Long Screw
  • Curved 3m Adhesive Base
  • Flat three meter Adhesive Base
  • Carry Case
  • USB Cable

This alone can help extend the lead of the  Olfi One Five over the GoPro if you are on a tight budget as some of those accessories for the GoPro from the official GoPro brand can add up to around an additional one hundred dollars.

Moving on to the features of the Olfi One Five. It is no surprise that the Gyro Stabilisation image stabilization is not as effective as the hyper smooth technology of the GoPro but it actually does an impressive job for its price. If you are just wanting to record family video or if you are an entry level extreme sports enthusiast then we feel you would be fine and not need the GoPros hyper smooth feature.

Although the Olfi One Five also offers 4K video recording, it does not offer the same frame rate of the GoPro but again, if you are an entry level extreme sports enthusiast then we really don’t feel that this will be a problem for you. You are still able to use it to record some excellent video footage as shown in the sample video below.

Although on paper the Olfi One Five offers a sixteen megapixel that beats out the twelve-megapixel capabilities of the GoPro we feel that the GoPro beats the Olfi hands down. We can’t quite put our finger on why but photographs were taken with the Olfi just seem to look cheap when compared to the GoPro.

Again though, if you are an entry level extreme sports enthusiast or if you are on a tight budget then the Olfi One Five should be able to meet your photography needs. Although its photographs look a little worse, it is almost half the price of the GoPro making it an easy trade-off for some people.

Although the Olfi One Five is technically able to be taken to a deeper depth of one hundred feet compared to the GoPros thirty-three feet, it does require the camera be placed inside of the included waterproof casing. Depending on your sport of choice, this may be totally useless to you as you may never even get close to the water but we just wanted to point it out.

The build quality of the Olfi One Five does not necessarily feel bad but when compared to that of the GoPro, it does feel somewhat cheap and as if corners have been cut. That said, we were unable to find any reports of from third-party camera users reporting that their cameras had broken by accident and that they felt it was down to the lower build quality of the Olfi One Five.

The final point we want to cover for the Olfi One Five is its audio capabilities. Whereas they aren’t bad, you can definitely notice a difference between this and the GoPro, the Olfi also picks up a lot more of the wind sound and muffles your audio when talking in windy conditions.

Our GoPro Hero Seven White Overview

As we mentioned earlier in the article, the GoPro Hero Seven White (Click here to check for product prices and availability) offers the GoPro build quality, performance, and functionality while retailing at a much similar price point to the Olfi One Five than the GoPro Hero Seven Black. That said, the GoPro Hero Seven White did get off to a bit of a rocky start with the community but it is managing to recover and build its reputation.

The GoPro Hero Seven White vs Olfi One Five comparison table.

Our comparison table above shows some of the key features and differences between the GoPro Hero Seven White and the Olfi One Five. As you can see, the GoPro Hero Seven White drops a few megapixels from its photographic capability while also losing the 4K video recording provided by the GoPro Hero Seven Black. The image stabilization is also downgraded to help reduce the cost of the camera and brings it much more in line with what the Olfi One Five is able to produce.

Again though, we feel that the GoPro build quality, extensive range of third-party accessories, and slightly better technologies help it edge out in front of the Olfi One Five.
