The focus of today’s article is going to be what we feel are two of the best contenders for the title of best wide angle lens for Canon 600d cameras currently available on the market right now. Over the last few months we have seen a consistent number of people reaching out for advice on the topic so decided to publish an article to help our readers.
Both of the lenses that we will be covering on our article have excellent reputations within the community, offer some great performance and functionality while also natively attaching to your 600ds camera body without the requirement of any converters or adaptors. In our opinion, they are also very fairly priced considering the performance of the lenses. Although the first lens that we will be covering can be a little pricey depending on your budget, the second lens is much more budget friendly while still offering great performance.
The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
The 10-22mm variable focal length offers both an ultra-wide angle and regular wide angle potential while also offering some excellent image quality for your 600d. Due to this, investing in the lens will improve your overall wide-angle photography potential in niches such as landscape photography, street photography, architectural photography, and real estate photography as well as many other sub-niches too.
Although the low light performance of the lens has received a little criticism over the years the majority of feedback has been positive. That said, there are still plenty of third-party, independent reviews from photographers like this one, this one, and this one that as well as many others confirm that the lens has solid low light performance.
Another key feature of the Canon 10-22mm is its ability to offer you a very nice depth of field with minimal effort required on your part. The autofocus functionality on the lens also works with a large number of cameras with the autofocus technology being very fast and sharp making it ideal for run and gun style photography too.
The lens also offers full-time manual focus if required and both the manual focus ring and manual zoom ring have been fully texturized to make them very easy to locate with just your fingertips to tweak your image on the fly. Both of the rings are also very responsive and easy to turn with just enough resistance to prevent you from accidentally overturning when tweaking your image.
Overall, if you own a Canon 600d and are looking to pick up a wide angle lens that offers a ton of functionality with some excellent overall performance then the Canon 10-22mm is probably the lens to go with. Although it can be considered a little high priced we feel it is well worth the consideration but if you are after a lower price point lens then check out the lens below.

The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens
Again, the focal range of the lens offers both ultra-wide angle and standard wide-angle capability from the lens that offers some excellent image quality for your 600d. Additionally, both the manual focus ring and manual zoom ring have been slightly updated compared to older Canon lenses to help improve their overall performance to offer quicker and easier image tweaking on the fly before capturing your photograph.
As further lens customization via the addition of various lens filters is very popular within wide-angle photography we wanted to mention that the Canon EF-S 10-18mm comes with a 67mm filter thread. Thankfully, the 67mm thread size is very popular making it easy to find lens filters and we would highly recommend that you check out the Gobe 67mm filter range (Click here to check for product prices and availability) if you are wanting to pick up some filters.
All in all, if you have a Canon 600d and are in the market for a budget-friendly wide-angle lens that offers some decent functionality with great performance and image quality then we would highly recommend that you consider the Canon EF-S 10-18mm.
