Even though there are newer GoPro models available on the market these days, we are still seeing a ton of people looking for advice on a wearable gimbal for GoPro Hero 5 cameras so we decided to publish this article to help as many people as we can who have this same situation. Thankfully, the wearable action camera gimbal market has improved massively over the last few years and there are now a number of solid products on the market for very fair prices that will serve both you and your GoPro Hero 5 well.
We have decided to feature our two favorite wearable gimbals that will allow you to mount your GoPro Hero 5 on them without the need of picking up any additional accessories or mounts. Both of these products have a great reputation within the GoPro owning community with the first product being better overall but a little more expensive and the second product being cheaper with less functionality and performance.
The EVO Gimbals EVO SS
The Evo SS is based around the tired and tested 3-axis wearable gimbal design that is very popular for gimbals within a number of niches due to how simple it is to use whereas still being very effective. The GoPro Hero 5 is one of the cameras that it has specifically been designed to work with offering a seamless fit when mounting your action camera that won’t present any issues as some competing wearable gimbals can.
The footage below offers a great example of the kind of performance that you can expect out of the Evo SS and it was recorded while the gimbal has a GoPro Hero 5 mounted on it offering some idea of what you may be able to achieve with your sport of choice.
The full list of supported cameras with the Evo SS is as follows:-
- GoPro Hero5 Black
- GoPro Hero6 Black
- GoPro Hero4 Black
- GoPro Hero4 Silver
- GoPro Hero 3
- GoPro Hero 3+
- Yi Action Camera
- Yi 4k+ Action Cam
- SJ4000-SJ6000
- GoPro Hero Session
- GoPro Hero5 Session
Depending on if you own any of the other action cameras on the list then you are able to swap them out with the gimbal as required to capture the type of footage that you want. If you are looking to pick up a solid stabilizer for GoPro’s as well as the other listed action cameras above then we feel that the Evo SS is your best choice. It will make a great addition to your camera accessories and should be able to meet all of your needs.

The Removu S1
Over the years, the Removu S1 has also become a pretty popular gimbal and earned a number of reviews (click here to read some of them) from its userbase that we would also recommend that you read if you have the free time. The video footage below was recorded using the Removu S1 with a GoPro Hero 5 mounted on the handheld gimbal included with your purchase but still gives a great example of the type of image stabilization the gimbal head is able to offer you.
We feel that if you are looking for a cheap wearable gimbal that also includes a handheld gimbal system then the Removu S1 could be the choice for you provided you are aware of its battery life limitations. It is a great little stabilizer for GoPro Hero 5 cameras and will make a nice little addition to your camera accessories without needing you to spend a ton of money on your new toy.
