This time we are going to be going over the best gimbal for Nikon d500 cameras on the market right now. We have noticed more and more videographers reaching out over the last few months with questions for based on what gimbal stabilizer they should be picking up for a d500.
As the camera body of the d500 comes in at around 1.90lbs it is a pretty heavy camera limiting the number of gimbals that you are able to use with your camera. Thankfully though, there are some excellent quality gimbals on the market that have great reputations that will work fine with your camera. We will be focusing on two of these gimbals in this article that both have slightly different uses but will both work perfectly for your camera and provide some excellent image stabilization.
The Zhiyun Crane v2
Due to all of this, the Zhiyun Crane v2 3-axis gimbal has had a large number of people post their own reviews (click here to read some of them) of its performance online. Reading a few of them is probably a good idea if you have time as they offer you an external, third-party insight into the performance of the product that can be invaluable.
Being based on one of the very first high-quality, handheld gimbal stabilizers to be released on the market, Zhiyun has built on the lessons that they have learned from their previous products to offer you the best possible product. The Zhiyun Crane v2 comes with a maximum upper payload of just under four pounds meaning that is can support your Nikon d500 as well as your camera accessories including some of the heavier lenses on the market without issue.
The battery life on the gimbal is also excellent and it was one of the first gimbals on the market to be able to provide you with around twelve hours of battery life per fully charged battery. We feel that this should be plenty for the majority of our readers and be able to easily help you record all the video footage that you require before being able to recharge the batteries.
The gyro system in the gimbal offers some excellent image stabilization too even if your camera rig comes in very close to the maximum payload without it sacrificing your image quality either. The OLED control screen on the handle of the gimbal is also backlit making it very easy to see what you are doing in low light or night conditions making it even easier to control the system.
Adding the Zhiyun Crane v2 to your camera accessories will be a great addition and we have no doubt that you will be happy with its performance for your Nikon d500. The reputation of the gimbal has stood the test of time and its quality can let you rest assured that it will provide you with excellent performance for many years to come yet.

The DJI Ronin-S
That said, the technology in the DJI Ronin-S is excellent and even when supporting its higher payload potential it still provides around twelve hours of uptime almost guaranteeing you enough power to keep you recording video. The 3-axis gimbal design that is used has been perfected over the years with the DJI Ronin-S using one of the latest versions of the design making the system very easy to use.
The design of the DJI Ronin-S handheld gimbal stabilizer is also one of the newest on the market at the time of writing having all of the mod cons. For example, the handle of the gimbal is very easy to hold without the issues of hand cramping or aching like some of the earlier gimbal systems used to have. Additionally, the stabilization motors in the gimbal are also very quiet allowing you to capture smooth video footage without the annoying clicking sounds some of the older gimbals produce.
All that said and done though, in reality, for a Nikon d500 you are much better of picking up a Zhiyun Crane v2 (Click here to check for product prices and availability). It is cheaper, also easily supports the weight of your camera and will provide some excellent image stabilization for you without the need to break the bank.
