We have noticed a steady number of people reaching out about flashes for the Sony a6500 but we noticed that there has recently been a spike in this so we have decided to publish this article to help any of our readers who are in this same situation.
As with most things in life, when it comes to the best flash for Sony a6500 cameras we feel there are a number of strong contenders on the market. Rather than just focusing on one, we will actually be featuring two different flash units to give a little choice to our readers. Both flash units are from Godox and have an excellent reputation within the Sony camera user community. The first flash is a cheaper option whereas the second flash is a more expensive option but it also comes with a few additional features.
The Godox TT350S Camera Flash
In our opinion, Godox has managed to create a great little external flash unit with excellent performance, great functionality, solid build quality and a list of features that allow it to easily hold its own against the competition. All this wrapped up in exchange for a very fair price tag have kept the TT350S and competitive and we only expect more and more people to pick it up in the future.
Unlike some modern camera flashes, the TT350S has an easy to navigate menu system that we feel is great. Although it is only our opinion, we prefer the quicker and easier menus rather than the more complex and sometimes confusing ones but this is a tradeoff.
The more complex menus usually allow for more customization and tweaking of your flash but can be very confusing. In our experiences, the flash units with a more basic navigation menu like the TT350S are preferred as you can quickly navigate to any setting you need to tweak mid-shoot to ensure you are getting the performance that you require.
Just like most of the other flash units worth their time on the market these days, the TT350S also allows you to quickly and easily rotate between the various core flash modes such as TTL flash, manual flash mode, and guide number.
On the off chance you own more Sony cameras in addition to your Sony a6500, you can also seemlesley use your Godox TT350S with these other popular Sony cameras:-
In addition to the extremely easy to navigate menu, Godox has done everything possible to make the TT350S as user-friendly as possible. Simply mount it to the hot shoe mount on your Sony a6500 camera body and then you are good to go. The overheating technology in the external flash will ensure it keeps cool and usable for as long as possible providing great image quality for your flash photographer for longer than many of the competing flash units.
The battery life on the TT350S is also excellent for its price point on the market. A set of fully charged decent batteries (Click here to check for product prices and availability) will provide you with around two hundred flash activations. Just keep in time that the variable recycle time of 0.1-2.2 seconds will have a pretty big effect on the number of flash activations that you will be able to get out of your flash.
All in all, the Godox TT350S will make an excellent flash unit for your Sony a6500 all for a very low price tag. As many Sony camera owners usually have more than one Sony camera in their collection, you can probably hot swal your flash unit between your a6500 and your other Sony camera provided it is one of the compatable ones listed above and its flash performance is excellent.
